Automatic Group Organization for Collaborative Learning Applying Genetic Algorithm Techniques and the Big Five Model

In this paper, an approach based on genetic algorithms is proposed to form groups in collaborative learning scenarios, considering the students’ personality traits as a criterion for grouping. This formation carried out two stages: first, information of students collected from psychometric instrument Big Five model; whereas, second, feeds algorithm that charge performing grouping iteratively, seeking optimal formation. The results presented here correspond functional and empirical validation approach. It found described methodology useful obtain with desired characteristics. specific objective provide strategy makes it possible subsequently assess context what type (homogeneous, heterogeneous, or mixed) most appropriate organize groups.
